hOUR Norman

From 8p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2008, Norman residents and businesses will have an opportunity to raise awareness about energy conservation. For one hour, all citizens of Norman will be encouraged to turn off their lights and think about other ways they can conserve electricity on a more sustainable basis.

Ideas are needed for a logo design that communicates the energy awareness objective of hOUR Norman. The winning design will be selected by the hOUR Norman Partnership Committee. The individual who submits the winning design will win a $200 VISA gift card.

View and print the form to enter your design by January 11, 2008!

A number of events will happenning on that day. Please come back to learn about hOUR Norman and how YOU can be part of it!

We would like to encourage everybody to take this hour and use it to spend some quality time with your family and friends. In our everyday rush of things, we have less and less time to think, to reflect and enjoy simple quiet time with those dear to us. Some ideas on how to spend the hOUR:

  • Have that conversation you have been postponing!
  • Turn your TV, computer and games off. Leave one light on, and read your favorite book with the whole family
  • Take a stroll, alone or with your loved ones. In either case, you will have a whole hour to reflect on things, or have a good conversation
  • Have your own "unplugged" concert!
